About

I’m Kendra, the founder of Goldenrod. I live in the mountains of Colorado. Like a lot of people here, I’ve watched smoke on the horizon or received an alert on my phone and wondered, “what if?”

As a Chief People Officer for startups, I’ve designed experiences that help people advance, navigate transitions, and figure out their next step. At some point it became obvious that the same principles apply to preparedness. The behaviors that help someone work through a career change or a hard decision at work (breaking big things into smaller steps, building on progress, having the right information at the right time) are the same ones that help a household get genuinely ready for an emergency.

Over the last year, I’ve thought a lot about readiness. I consumed news about natural disasters, researched organizations and experts, and created a huge spreadsheet with information about preparedness, risk, and tangible actions. I wanted to understand how people can prepare for the moments that matter, and what gets in the way. A difficult winter across the western US made it feel urgent enough to build.

Goldenrod is what came out of that. It’s built on the belief that when someone has the right structure and a clear starting point, preparedness stops feeling like a project they keep putting off and starts feeling possible. I also believe that when households get more ready, momentum will build and it can cascade across a community, and connect us back to one another.

We’re here to help you get started, keep going, and feel more confident about what comes next.

Let's get more ready, together.
